Matthew was born in Grand Prairie, Texas and grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is a family man who enjoys home gardening and raising chickens. He became involved in conservation work after attending a Punk Rock music festival called Rocky Mountain Blood Fest. The spirit of the music inspired him to take a leap forward and immerse himself into a life of service to greater good. He has since served in Rocky Mountain Youth Corps for many years as a corps member, supervisor, and a coordinator. He has also served a season as a Wildlands Firefighter for Taos Pueblo. Recently, he has begun to teach traditional Chinese Kung Fu to children in an effort to deepen his understanding of the artform and to share the teachings that have brought him a sense of balance and peace.
