Annie Montes
Middle Rio Grande Logistics Coordinator and Field Trainer

Growing up in the forests of Northern California, Annie never imagined living in New Mexico. In 2017 she moved here for a fresh start and to escape the chaos of living in the D.C. metro area. Shortly after she fell permanently in love with the Land of Enchantment. During her time with AmeriCorps, she developed a deep connection to the land, particularly with the native plants. Annie Graduated from University of New Mexico in 2020 with her MS in Biology. During her time at UNM, she discovered her love for youth outreach and empowerment through the Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program. She looks forward to continuing her work with youth and giving back to her community through RMYC.

Annie has a background and a passion for botany, ecology, conservation, and social justice. In her spare time Annie can be found playing in the dirt in her backyard, hiking in the Sandias, and identifying plants in the Bosque. She also enjoys snuggling her two pit bull rescues and volunteering with the US Forest Service in her spare time.
