Community Health Crew (CHC)
These six AmeriCorps members have a strong interest in healthcare and a desire to help their community. They work to develop, promote and assist with community health programs in Taos County. The CHC is in its second year of existence and is based on the Public Allies model with individual placement sites in rural health care initiatives. Corpsmembers serve 30 hours per week and in addition to their bi-weekly living stipend will receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of $2,675. Along with the meaningful work experience and networking in the health field, Corpsmembers receive in house trainings which include professionalism, media literacy and public speaking. The Community Health Crew’s current partners are Holy Cross Hospital, Teambuilders, Drug Free Communities Coalition and the New Mexico Department of Health Grant.
