After School Program
After-school hours are a critical time for youth. Research indicates that risky behavior increases during that time period without adequate supervision in a positive, structured and engaging environment. RMYC uses a cascading leadership model in implementing our after school program. Twenty two Corpsmembers are presently planning and facilitating the program in Ranchos, Enos and Questa elementary schools. Fifty one students are receiving homework support, physical activity and enrichment sessions. This provides an opportunity to engage in activities not offered by schools. Corpsmembers in turn are given opportunities to practice leadership skills. We provide a positive support network, valuable work experience and continuing personal and professional trainings such as financial management, public speaking and other life skills.
